The physical arrangement of particles and particles groups in different patterns is known as Soil fabrics. The term soil fabrics refers to the geometric arrangement of individual particles is a soil, including the geometrical distribution of pore spaces.
Soil fabrics may be used to describe the particle arrangement in both cohesive and granular soils.
The space between the minerals particles is known as pores or voids. They are important in the calculation and interpretation of porosity, degree of saturation, water content,void ratio,unit weight of solid, specific gravity and many other properties.
