Basic definition of certain terms of doors.

Frame:

A group of members assembled and placed along the top, bottom and sides of an opening so as to form an enclosure and a support for the door assembly.

Sill:

The horizontal member forming the bottom of the frame.

Shutter:

Planks, panelled or otherwise, which fit in the frame.

Style:

Upright or vertical outside members of a shutter a frame work.

Top Rail:

The top most horizontal member of a shutter or framework.

Lock Rail:

Middle horizontal member of a shutter or framework wherein lock and bolt are fixed.

Bottom Rail:

The lower most horizontal member of a shutter or framework.

Mullion:

The vertical member running through a shutter or a frame.

Jamb:

Vertical face of a window or door opening which supports the frame.
