Fundal Height

• It is distance between pubic bone and top of uterus during pregnancy. 
• It helps healthcare providers to assess wher baby is growing correctly or not.
• It determines gestational age and baby's position in uterus.

Explanation

At 36 weeks, it felt in lower part of sternum

• The location of fundus moves as pregnancy progresses.
• At around 36 weeks fundus reaches sternum or breastbone
• At 36 weeks it reaches highest point.
• After 36 weeks fundal height can decrease because baby has engaged in pelvis to prepare for labour or or reasons.

Additional Information

At 6 weeks, you can feel it in abdomen

• At 6 weeks pregnant, a baby is size of a sweet pea.
• The uterus can sometimes be easily flexed at markedly softened isthmus.
• A cavity that is consistent with pregnancy can be detected within uterus using ultrasound

• The feeling of cramping and bloating occurs and belly feels a little bigger than normal.

At 12 weeks, it is at umbilical level

• The uterus is larger than pelvic area and rises into abdomen.
• The uterus can be felt above pubic bone.
• At 12 weeks babies can open and close ir hands and curl ir toes.

At 20 weeks, it reaches pelvic girdle

• The upper point of uterus is at level of woman's belly button.
• It is time when fundal height and week of pregnancy begin to match one anor.
• At 20 weeks baby is size of a banana.
• At 20 weeks pregnant, weight gain is happening slowly.

Explanation

• Oral Contraceptive Pills Or Birth Control Pills are pills containing a number of hormones that help to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
• Birth control pills are to be taken within 72 hours of or 3 days of unprotected sex.
• There are mainly three types of oral contraceptive pills:

1.         combined estrogen-progesterone
2. progesterone only
3. continuous or extended use pill

Mechanism of Action

• Progesterone is hormone that is responsible for pregnancy. Progesterone in birth control pill mainly inhibits mechanism of Ovulation, which furr inhibits Follicular Development.
• After drug administration, Progesteron Negative feedback mechanism acts on Hypothalamus and it reduces action of Gonadotrophin releasing Hormone and also decreases level of Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone. 
• These Hormonal changes will prevent follicle development.
• Anor primary mechanism of action says that progesterone inhibits ability of sperm to penetrate through cervix and upper genital tract by changing normal flora of cervical mucus.
