Introduction-to-Concrete-and-Concrete-Materials

Define Concrete and write down its ingredients.

Concrete is a heterogeneous, multi-phase composite material composed of coarse granular material (the aggregate or filler) embedded in a hard matrix of material
(the cement or binder) that fills the space among the aggregate particles and glues them together. The simplest definition
of concrete can be written as,

concrete =Aggregate + Binding material + Admixtures

The ingredient of Golden age Concrete are:

  1. Hydraulic lime to provide self cementing properties
  2. Volcanic Ash to make concrete set under water
  3. Horse hair to import reinforcement so as to make concrete less liable to crack
  4. Aggregate likes sand,stones etc.

The ingredient of Modern age Concrete are:

  1. Cement (10 - 15 % )as a binding material
  2. Aggregate ( 70- 75 % ) like sand, stones etc.
  3. Admixtures as per the requirements.
  4. Water ( 15 - 25....
