Luganovich is one of the important characters in Chekhovs story â??About Loveâ?ť. Luganovich is Annas husband and good friend of Alyohin. He is over forty and is assistant president of circuit court.  Though he is over forty in age he has married a beautiful and young lady of only twenty two years old. So, his wife is unsatisfied with him. As a result of which, she kept a love affair with Alyohin.

Luganovich was so innocent that he never suspected over Alyohin though he used to come regularly to meet Anna. He was unknown about the love affair even at the end.

He is helpful and hospitable in the sense that he is glad of guests and he requests Alyohin to take help from him to pay off the debt. According to Alyohin, he is a charming, good-natured, simple-minded person.
