The pars nervosa is also known as posterior pituitary gland or neurohypophysis. It secretes oxytocin and vasopressin or anti diuretic hormone. The rest are secreted by anterior pituitary gland.

Norepinephrine is a catecholamine or an emergency hormone. It is secreted during stressful situations. Glycogen, lipids and proteins are broken down to raise blood glucose level. It does not stimulate glucose breakdown.

The hormone secreting cells of hypothalamus are neurosecretory cells. The hypothalamus is present at base of diencephalon and is responsible for maintaining homeostasis.

Testis is composed of seminiferous tubules and Leydig cells or interstitial cells. The Leydig cells are responsible for production of androgens, especially testosterone which is male sex hormone.

Iodine is responsible for normal functioning of thyroid gland. It is used for production of thyroid hormones thyroxine or tetraiodothyronine (T₄) as well as triiodothyronine(T₃).

ANF or atrial natriuretic factor is secreted by heart. It is secreted by walls of atria. PRL is secreted by anterior pituitary gland, MSH by pars intermedia and CCK by GI tract.

The gonadotropins are luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). In females, y are responsible for inducing ovulation, maintaining corpus luteum and developing ovarian follicles.

CCK or cholecystokinin is a peptide hormone secreted by endocrine cells of gastrointestinal tract or GI tract. It stimulates gall bladder to secrete bile juice for digestion of fats.

The Islets of Langerhans in pancreas contain mostly α-cells and β-cells. The α-cells are responsible for secretion of glucagon while latter is responsible for secretion of insulin.

Growth hormone is required for proper maintenance, growth and development of body. Low secretion of growth hormone results in dwarfism, which is characterized by short stature.
