• The organ responsible for production of an ovum in primate females is ovary. In humans a set of two ovaries is present and y are both functional. They are mainly involved in gamete formation and hormone secretion.   Normally, ovaries produce one ovum per month or per menstrual cycle. 
• They are involved in secretion of secrete estrogen, testosterone, inhibin, and progesterone. These hormones are responsible for secondary sexual characteristics in females and for maturation and maintenance of female reproductive organs.

Stores sperm prior to ejaculation. Storage in epididymis makes sperm motile and mature. If not ejaculated y are reabsorbed. Spermatozoa are produced continuously wher ejaculation takes place or not.
