In year 1838, German botanist Matthias Schleiden observed different types of cells present in plant tissue of various plants. Along with Schwann, he formulated cell ory.

Matthias Schleiden, a German botanist and Theodore Schwann, a British zoologist toger formulated cell ory. Rudolph Virchow introduced his ory of Omnis cellula-e cellula, thus giving final shape to cell ory.

The Golgi complex is made of sacs called cisternae. The forming face which faces nucleus is convex or cis, while maturing face which faces away from nucleus is concave or trans.

Motile bacteria have a thin filamentous structure extending from cell known as flagella. Flagella are made of three parts – filament which is longest portion, hook and basal body.

Based on position of centromere, chromosomes can be classified into four types. In telocentric chromosomes, centromere is located at proximal end or tip of chromosome.

The cytoskeleton is comprised of microtubules, microfilaments and intermediate filaments. It is a network of se filamentous proteins. Axoneme is present in flagella and cilia.

Rudolph Virchow was first scientist who explained that new cells arise from pre-existing cells. This finding was added into cell ory which was originally formulated by Schleiden and Schwann.
