The ability of a gene to produce more than one phenotype in an organism is called Pleoitrophy and genes are called Pleiotripic genes. It is not essential that traits are equally influenced. Sometimes, effect of gene is more evident in case of one trait and less evident in case of anor trait.

Pedigree analysis refers to a record of occurrence of a trait generation over a generation in a family based on inheritance pattern of trait under study. It predicts negative effects of inbreeding, occurrence and origin of a trait in a family, probability of occurrence and expression of a genetic disorder and helps in alleviation of se disorders in progeny.
